ImageThe master of folk-dancing, the creator of the first Albanian ballet, the choreographer and the artist Panajot Kanaçi, is now presented to the public through the book written from his colleague Albert Janku.

In this publication, Janku gives the reader what this famous choreographer represents, what people don’t know about his work and his life. Memories, reflections and other notes written during all these years, will all be part of the book entitled “That’s how I knew Panajot Kanaçin”.

By being so close to him and to his artistic life, working with him and dancing with him, there was something bothering me all the time. I wanted to show what people did not know, what was inside his artistic job. So I collected my memories, my emotions I had spent with him and I started writing these verses which altogether created this book. Panajot Kanaçi was a natural talent, someone which new the plastic of the movements, the creation and the right step, he was born with this ability, says Janku.

Everyone will remember Kanaçi as the creator of the first Albanian ballet “Halili and Hajria” in 1963. He has created not only folk dances, but also entire ballet scenes like “The Sleeping Beauty”, “Cinderella” of Çajkovski, Paganini and many others. Panajot Kanaçi who passed away in July 1996 is remembered as the creator of the modern Albanian choreography models.
