| The shield found in 1984 is restored |

 A shield that was found in 1984 by the archeologist Vangjel Dimo is in the second phase of the restoration from the master Frederik Stamati. The diameter of the shield is 72 cm and is one of the largest metallic objects discovered in Albania.“This shield is one of the most difficult objects to be restored that we have had in our laboratory. It’s been some years that we are conducting this job and we need one more year of intensive work to finish completely the restoration. The current phase is very important and it will be a problem if it is not done correctly”, said Frederik Stamati. The shield was found damaged and divided in 8153 fragments. During its extraction in the village Kryegjate, it was further damaged. Its been 25 years now that it is being restored in the laboratory. Vilma Masha |
