The European mission in Kosovo EULEX, has reopened the judicial process that UNMIK had started against the head of the movement “Vetevendosja” Albin Kurti for the demonstration of February 10th 2007 by inviting him to be present in the court on February 15th. In that demonstration the Romanian police of UNMIK intervened in the peaceful demonstration by killing two activists of the movement “Vetevendosja”, Arben Xheladinin and Mon Balajn and by injuring 80 others.EULEX has received from UNMIK 1200 files for different cases. Most of them are files about corrupted politicians and political and economic crimes. But EULEX has left apart these files and has chosen the reopening of the shameful process, is said in the communication of the movement “Vetevendosja”. Albino Kurti has been held in prison for almost one year, even though many international organizations for the human rights including “Amnesty International” have concluded that the protestants were conducting a peaceful protest. Even today the killers of the demonstration, the police of the Romanian UNMIK section have not been punished from the justice organs but have been let free to return in Romania. |
